Your passport to fun

07 July 2008

With the summer holidays nearly upon us, a passport scheme which allows free access to a range of Herefordshire’s tourist attractions has been re-launched.

Herefordshire libraries, heritage services, Tourist Information Centres, the Cathedral Mappa Mundi exhibition and the Cider Museum have joined forces to re-launch the very successful Cultural Passport loyalty card scheme.

The Cultural Passport is a loyalty card to reward existing customers and introduce new visitors to the county’s Tourist Information Centres, libraries and museums.

There are separate passports for adults and children. Visitors to any of the 23 participating sites will be given a free loyalty card and each time they visit they will receive a stamp. After ten stamps they get a prize.

Prizes range from free tickets to events, discounted entrance to the Cider Museum and Cathedral, discounts in Tourist Information Centres, book tokens, and no charge for DVD’s in libraries and theatre, cinema vouchers and free child’s entrance to Shortwood family farm and the Small Breeds Centre in Kington.

Cllr Adrian Blackshaw, cabinet member for economic development and community services, said: “This is a unique chance to visit and enjoy Herefordshire’s museums, libraries and Tourist Information Centres and get a prize that opens up other county cultural venues. It’s a fantastic way to get that cultural habit.”

The scheme began at the start of July at all 23 sites – all libraries including the mobiles, all Tourist Information Centres, the Cathedral Mappa Mundi exhibition, Cider Museum, Old House Museum, Hereford Museum and Art Gallery, Market House Heritage Centre Ross-On-Wye, Ledbury Heritage Centre and the new Museum Resource and Learning Centre in Hereford.
