Quilting across borders

07 July 2008

The colourful exhibition Quilting Across Borders being held at Hereford Museum and Art Gallery got off to a flying start when 70 people attended the private view.

Twenty five prize-winning artwork quilts in stunning designs and colours are featured in the exhibition and show how the craft of quilting continues in a modern form.

There are also displays of Welsh historic quilts from the Ceredigion Museum and some of the finest antiques quilts from Hereford Museum’s own collection, which show the viewer how quilting has always played an expressive role in our social history.

To complement the exhibition a series of lectures and workshops is running throughout the summer at the Museum Resource and Learning Centre and these will be led by nationally recognised teachers and practitioners in the craft.  Places are limited and some of the workshops already have waiting lists.

The exhibition runs until September 3, 2008 at Hereford Museum and Art Gallery in Broad Street. The museum has disabled access and the museum is open from 10am until 5pm, Tuesday to Saturday and 10am until 4pm on Sundays.

For information and booking for workshop and lectures contact Museum Front of House 01432 260692.
