Chance to learn more about quilting

30 June 2008

Want to know more about the art of quilting and how to get involved in this creative and fun pastime?

If so then a series of lectures being held alongside a major exhibition of antique quilts now open at Hereford Museum and Art Gallery, are the perfect place to start.

There are still places left on six lectures about the history of quilting, how to date quilts and the history of boutis.

The major exhibition of antique quilts from the Ceredigion Museum, the 25 for 25 collection from the Quilters Guild and quilts from Hereford Museum’s own collection opened in June.

Held at Hereford Museum and Art Gallery, the exhibition runs from until Sunday, August 31 and there will be a series of lectures and workshops running alongside the exhibition.

The lectures will be held at the Museum Resource and Learning Centre on Saturdays and cost £8 each. They are:

· July 12, 11am to noon: Bridget Long on British Quilt History
· July 26, 11am to noon: Bridget Long on How to date British quilts.
· July 26, 1pm to 2pm: Sheilah Daughtree on Dating a patchwork quilt
