Kington to keep free parking

09 May 2008

Kington's three long stay car parks in High Street, Love Lane and Market Hall Street are to remain free of charge.

Parking charges across the county have just been reviewed for the first time since 2003.

At the town's medium stay Mill Street car park, the cost of parking for one hour will be 30p and the fee for all-day parking will be £1.20 from 2nd June.

Councillor Brian Wilcox, Herefordshire Council's cabinet member for highways and transportation, said: "As part of our policy to encourage people to visit our market towns, parking in Kington remains mostly free and even in the one charging car park motorists can still park all day for just £1.20.

"This compares favourably with charges currently levied in Ludlow, Monmouth and Malvern where parking all day costs from £2.30 to £3," he added.

Season ticket prices for the Mill Street car park are to remain unchanged at £45 per quarter.
