Help Hereford bloom with a floral display

08 May 2008

Herefordshire Council's parks, countryside and leisure development service is encouraging businesses in Hereford City to put colourful floral displays outside their premises this summer and enter in to the city's annual 'Floral Decorations Competition'.

The competition, which is arranged by Herefordshire Council in conjunction with Hereford City Council, aims to make Hereford a more colourful and vibrant place for both residents and visitors to the City.

The traders hanging baskets and window boxes also complement the council's summer floral displays, which can be seen around the city centre.

Geoff Dimbylow, Special Projects Officer said: "All businesses and traders in the city will have their floral displays judged during the summer months when the displays are deemed to be at their best. You do not have to contact anyone to formally enter the competition, if we see a display it will automatically be judged.

"The successful companies will have cups and trophies awarded to them by the Mayor of Hereford at a special ceremony held at the Town Hall in the early autumn."

A package to help businesses put together their floral displays and keep them watered throughout the summer months has been organised by Workmatch. If you would like them to supply you with hanging baskets or tubs please contact Geoff or Sheila directly on 01432 265545.
