Open day at museum resource and learning centre

17 April 2008

Had a spring clearout? Found some family treasures in your attic? Want to know what they are?

Then let Herefordshire Council's experts help you find out. Bring all your mysterious treasures from the back of the wardrobe to Museum Resource and Learning Centre on Saturday, April 26 for our object identification day running from 11am until 3pm.

Perhaps you have been digging in the garden or out on a spring walk and have picked up an interesting bug or object you have found in the ground. Herefordshire Council's natural history and archaeology experts will be on hand to help identify your find.

Museum curators will also be explaining how to best look after your antiques and collections. If you have ever wondered how to stop granny's quilt being eaten by moths or how to stop your old photographs from curling at the edges then bring them along and our curators will show you how.

Herefordshire Council's finds liaison officer Peter Reavill will be on hand to identify archaeological finds between 11am and 1pm only.

During the open day, there will also be mini curators activity for children.

Children are able to drop in between 11am and 3pm to make their own mini museum or bring in their own collections for expert advice.
