Chance to have say in park’s future

05 March 2008

Aylestone Park Association will be holding its annual meeting on Thursday, March 13 at 7pm in the Royal National College for the Blind, Venns Lane, Hereford.

The meeting provides an opportunity for local people to join the Association which is helping with the formation of the park and will be active in its future management.

It will also be a chance to view the two major planning applications which could affect the Park.

These are the construction of homes as part of the development of the Royal National College's Sports site, where planning consent has been given and work by Bloor Homes has just started, and the development of Holmer Trading Estate, where the plans are likely to be considered within the next eight weeks.

Both developments (if the latter is approved) will provide funding towards the park's infrastructure.

The Bloor Homes development will fund a children's playground and will plant an area of orchard within the park to replace trees that have had to be removed from their site. The orchard planting will be good for wildlife such as birds and bats, and it will also be an opportunity to safeguard some of the old Herefordshire varieties of fruit trees, many of which are being lost with the modernisation of commercial orchards.

Aylestone Park Association invites any member of the public to come to the meeting, where a warm welcome awaits potential new members to the association. Free refreshments are also being offered.
