Herefordshire Council and Worcestershire County Council's Waste
Prevention Team will be inviting people to climb aboard its
recycling bus in Hereford this weekend.
The team will be out in force at this year's Flavours of
Herefordshire Food Festival at Hereford Race Course, which is set
to take place on Saturday (October 27) and Sunday (October 28) from
10am until 4pm.
Advice and ideas about how to reduce, reuse and recycle waste
will be given by the team as part of Mission Impossible ? a unique
project aimed at helping residents find simple ways to manage their
waste and reduce the amount of rubbish they throw away.
Members of the Waste Prevention Team will be staffing a waste
management gazebo with the big green recycling bus throughout the
day in a bid to provide passers-by with information about:
- Sink Your Waste - residents can claim up to £80 cash back
for fitting a food waste disposer in their home. A working food
waste disposer will be on display at the event all weekend. For
more information about food waste disposers visit
http://www.sinkyourwaste.com/

Incentive Scheme.

about how householders can stop unwanted post will be given
out.
- Shop Smart - tips for low-waste shopping and free
re-useable Jute bags will be available for those who complete a
short Mission Impossible quiz at the event (while stocks
last).

can donate furniture, electrical goods, bicycles and many more
unwanted items will be on hand.
- Freecycle - an on-line message board that can be found at

where people can offer their unwanted possessions free of
charge to others.
- Recycling - the recycling bus will be parked up at the show
reminding residents to recycle their plastic bottles, food tins
and cans, paper, thin card, glass bottles and jars and
textiles.
