Blockbuster film at museum

17 April 2007

Hereford children are being offered a chance to see a blockbuster film at the city’s museum.

The blockbuster family film A Night at the Museum, starring Ben Stiller, Robin Williams and Ricky Gervais, is being screened at Hereford Museum over a weekend in May.

The film is a hilarious account of what happens when a museum caretaker, working the night shift, finds that some of the artefacts come to life, including a dinosaur.

Lesley Wells, visitor services officer for Herefordshire Museums, said: “We are really excited about the opportunity to show this film. We know children will enjoy it and we hope that it will help those who are unfamiliar with their local museum realise what a fun place it can be.

“The museum curators are already searching the collections to find costumes and items that will match some of the items that will be seen in the film,” she added.

The museum team is planning to have showings of A Night at the Museum on the evening of Friday, May 18, the morning and afternoon of Saturday, May 19 and on the Sunday afternoon (May 20).

Tickets are £2 each and include a drink, popcorn and other goodies. They are available on a first come, first served basis, and should be booked by contacting the museum’s front desk.

For further information email lwells@herefordshire.gov.uk or telephone 01432 383597.

Children will need to be accompanied by an adult.
