Babe in arms book group at Leominster library

02 April 2007

A new chapter is about to begin for mothers and fathers with young babies who want to meet up, read and talk about books with other avid readers in Leominster.

Liz Connolly, a mother of a ten-month old baby girl, had the idea and has now formed a new daytime book group at the town’s library.

The group will meet on the first Tuesday of each month between1.30pm and 2.30pm. The first session will be on Tuesday, May 1.

It will be just like other reading groups - the only difference is that babies and small children can come along too.

“I really wanted to join a book group but I find it hard to get out in the evenings,” said Liz.

“This will be a chance to read with a purpose and discover books that I might never have tried before and not worry about trying to get a babysitter.”

Herefordshire Council’s reader development librarian, Anne-Marie Dossett, said the authority is right behind the idea. “This is a great opportunity for mums and dads to get together to talk about the books they love.”
