This week the Herefordshire Partnership launches an eight-week consultation on its strategy “Growing Older in Herefordshire”.
The document builds on three events that were held last year to gather information and to seek the views of local stakeholders.
In launching the eight-week consultation, Cllr Mrs Olwyn Barnett, cabinet member for social care adults and health, said: "We value the massive contribution of older people and we will ensure that we continue to seek their views and experiences.
“As more people are living longer, it’s important that these years are spent being healthy, active and independent.”
The overall vision for the strategy is to ensure that older people in Herefordshire will remain independent and active, continuing to live in, and contribute to, strong local communities and be included in decisions regarding the future services and activities that they want and need.
The Older People’s Strategy puts forward five aims to respond to these challenges:
The strategy encourages different organisations to work together to develop detailed action plans for each of these aims.
