Young people needed to help with Elections

07 February 2007

Herefordshire Council’s Electoral Registration team are looking for 11-18 year olds who are willing to help with the forthcoming Youth Council elections.

Twenty youngsters are needed to help count the votes for the Youth Council elections which take place from the 19th-25th March across the county.

Colette Maund, Electoral Registration Manager, said: “This is a way of introducing young people to the election process, not only by voting, but by getting involved with behind the scenes activities.

“Unfortunately we can’t pay them, but we will give each count assistant a £20 voucher from Virgin.”

The count for the Youth Council will take place on Saturday 24 March at the Town Hall, Hereford, between 11am and 1pm.

Council officers hope that any volunteers for the Youth Council could then help at the local elections big count in May, which they would be paid for.

Anyone interested should contact Jano Rochefort at the Electoral Registrations Office.
