Ledbury TIC Future

24 November 2006

Herefordshire Council has put plans to move Ledbury’s TIC on hold after agreeing to allow a consortium to come up with a robust business plan which could secure the future of the facility in its current building.

Cllr Roy Stockton, cabinet member (community services), made the decision after taking into consideration the views of local residents, businesses, Ledbury Town Council and fellow councillors on Herefordshire Council.

“Ledbury TIC is an extremely important facility in the town and one which is valued not just by tourists, but by those who live, shop and work in the town,” he said.

“As a result, we’ve agreed to extend the lease on the building to give the Civic Society, Ledbury Town Council, Ledbury Tourist Association and the Ledbury and District Development Trust the opportunity to come up with a business plan to look at the use of the Masters House and the future location of the town’s TIC.

“To help them with this, Herefordshire Council, via the Heritage Lottery Fund, will support up to half of the cost (up to a maximum of £15,000) of the production of a business plan to assess the needs and requirements of all members of the community in using a historic building,” added Cllr Stockton.
