Hey big spender! Help for Herefordshire shoppers

14 November 2006

Shoppers in Herefordshire can gain top tips and clear, practical consumer advice at a range of events being held across the county during National Consumer Week, which starts on Monday (November 20).

Events are being held across the country with a ‘Hey Big Spender’ theme focusing on those larger purchases being planned at Christmas or in the January sales.

Each day Trading Standards staff will be offering help and advice in Herefordshire Info Shops.

The Info Shops are open on:

  • Monday
    10 - 12.30 Hereford and Leominster
    2 - 4.30 Kington
  • Tuesday
    10 - 12.30 Bromyard
  • Wednesday
    2 - 4.30 Kington
  • Thursday
    10 - 12.30 Bromyard
    2 - 4.30 Ross
  • Friday
    10 - 12.30 Leominster
    2 - 4.30 Ledbury

Herefordshire Trading Standards is working in partnership with Consumer Direct West Midlands to offer people access to information.

Councillor Phil Edwards, cabinet member for the environment, said: “This is a valuable opportunity for people to get some expert shopping advice, particularly with the run up to Christmas.

“People can just pop along to see Trading Standards staff and find out more about their rights as a consumer on a whole range of issues and what to look out for when thinking about buying those more expensive items.”

If people aren’t able to get to the events being held, they can call Consumer Direct on 08454 04 05 06 or visit the website at http://www.consumerdirect.gov.uk/
