The plan is to transform an overgrown plot of land at the back of Ledbury youth centre into a community garden which will be designed, planted and looked after by young people in the area.
“The project offers a chance for young people to get actively involved in a rewarding hands-on-project within their community which will produce a great and safe meeting place for them,” said Pippa Hart, Youth Worker.
“They can learn new skills, meet new people, and have lots of fun at the same time,” she added.
Part of the project will involve learning about environmental and conservational issues for which participants can receive an accreditation, boosting future employment potential.
The project is being undertaken by the council’s youth service in conjunction with John Masefield High School and Ledbury in Bloom.
Volunteers are sought to help bring the project to fruition, and any offers of advice or support would be gratefully received.
Those interested are invited to see the site for themselves and comment on young people’s artistic impressions at a project launch at 2pm on Saturday, 4th November in the Ledbury Youth Centre.
