Cash in on funding fair

13 October 2006

Herefordshire’s community and voluntary organisations seeking funding for their projects are being urged to get along to a special event which will help them in their bid for cash.

The Herefordshire Funding Fair, which takes place on Wednesday, October 25, follows the success of earlier fairs which attracted scores of visitors and was hailed a great success.

The sixth Herefordshire Funding Fair will take place at Hereford’s Aylestone High School.

The event is aimed at community and voluntary organisations seeking funding for their projects.

There will be the opportunity to participate in active workshop sessions about funding, talk directly to grant makers and organisations offering advice, and understand more about how to apply for funding.

Clare Wichbold, the organiser of the event, said: “As with previous years, the event will have a wide range of information stalls and workshops to attend and enjoy.

“It’s important that people can have a good time participating in the event whilst also getting the essential information they need.

“We’re delighted that Siobhan Harper-Nunes, who until recently was head of the Birmingham City Council External Funding Unit, has agreed to be our keynote speaker this year.

“She brings a wealth of experience to the role, and I hope visitors will find her both interesting and informative,” added Clare.

The workshop sessions will run in the morning and be repeated in the afternoon.

Information stalls will be available on a drop in basis all day.  Childcare is available if required, and a buffet lunch will also be available from 12.30pm to 1.30pm.

Admission is free, but places are limited for the workshops, which have previously proved very popular.

Further information on the event is available by telephoning the Project Development Team on (01432) 261793 or email projectdevelopment@herefordshire.gov.uk.
