This year’s Big Event is being held on Saturday, September 2, 2006 on King George V playing fields.
The organisers have made sure the day is packed with a diverse range of attractions to keep all the family entertained.
For the more adventurous there’ll be a climbing wall to scale. For those who prefer to watch from the sidelines, there are various events including Dolloway Dancers and Single Star Line Dancers.
There’s a huge range of activities for children including village races, face painting, penalty shootout and of course the fun fair.
People will also be able to check out the achievements of local South Wye projects and see first hand the good work that’s going on in their community.
There’ll be a variety of stalls, refreshments and a fully licensed bar available. The fun fair will also be open on the Friday night.
Many of the county’s best bands will be performing in the open air. These will include Blue Coma - chilled sounds and vocals to touch the soul; Frantik - high energy rock delivered with passion; Blizzard - a young heavy metal band; and, New Beginning - a band influenced by The Who, The Jam and The Undertones.
“The Big Event has proved to be a huge success, last year some 9,000 people visited throughout the day,” said Ian Cooper, Event Co ordinator.
“We’ve made sure that there’s a packed programme of events that will keep everyone happy.
“It’s fantastic that the Big Event is financially supported and able to run again this year, because it means we can provide the community with a fun family day out for free.”
The Big Event is supported by Kindle South Wye Development Trust and South Wye Regeneration Partnership, and organised by the South Wye Publicity Group.
The Big Event is free, it starts at 12.30pm and finishes with a large fireworks display around 9.00pm
