Phase One will invite key groups and partners from within the village to form a focus group
to help assess the resources available and the best options for providing a library service in the village.
Schools Councils at the local primary and secondary schools will also be consulted as part of Phase One.
In Phase Two, planned for August, a household postal survey will be issued. This will follow up on the issues identified by the focus group, and aims to capture the views of both current library users and non-users.
Cllr Roy Stockton, Cabinet Member (Community Services) said: “We want to ensure that villagers have an input into the future of the service, both from those who currently use the service and those who don’t but recognise its value.”
It is hoped that the feedback received will form a sound basis for any future decisions taken regarding the library service in this area, and lead to an accessible service which can link effectively with a variety of other services and activities which take place within the village.
