Ledbury Heritage Centre celebrates the British Red Cross in Ledbury

16 May 2006

Ledbury Heritage Centre is staging a small exhibition celebrating the British Red Cross in the town.

The exhibition includes fascinating photographs charting the movement’s history as well as medals and certificates.

“For many, it will be a real trip down memory lane,” said Lara Latcham, Visitor Services Officer for Heritage Services.

“There are photos spanning seven decades and the story of the Ledbury branch of this exceptional organisation.”

The exhibition has been put together by Mrs Ann Burrowes, who has been a Red Cross supporter for most of her life.

“This exhibition is something I’ve wanted to do for a long time.  It’s an opportunity to highlight the excellent work that members of our community have done over the years,” said Mrs Burrowes.

The exhibition has been sanctioned and supported by the British Red Cross in Worcester.

“I’m pleased to see the extent and quality of the archive material available for display,” said Gabby Beddows, Senior Services Manager with the Red Cross.

“The Red Cross still operates in the Ledbury area and it’s good to see its pedigree in this interesting display”.

The exhibition opens on Tuesday next week, May 23, at Ledbury Heritage Centre, Church Lane, Ledbury.

The centre is open daily from 10.30am to 4.30pm.

Local journalists and photographers are invited to view the exhibition either on the afternoon of Monday, May 22, or at the private viewing which starts on the same day.
