Mad March at Ross Heritage Centre

09 March 2006

Massive mammals and multiple museums are what’s on offer at Ross Heritage Centre during the month of March.

The extremely popular elephant exhibition, which has been on display since the middle of January, will finally close on Wednesday, March 15. Nearly 2,000 visitors have already herded through the doors of the centre to view the collection.

The exhibition features over 600 elephants in a vast variety of artistic medium and sizes.

The entire collection belongs to Ross Town Council. Questionnaires about the exhibition have been returned to the Town Clerk and will be assessed in the forthcoming weeks.

From March 17 – April 18, the “Making Connections” exhibition will take centre stage. The exhibition has been put together by the Museums Forum to showcase the County’s museums and heritage centres.

“Making Connections” will highlight the diverse array of collections that exist in the County, allowing visitors to the Heritage Centre a chance to see what’s on offer and how easy it is for them to visit.

“This is a first for an exhibition of this type we hope it will help people to realise the rich array of heritage that’s on offer in Herefordshire and raise the profile not only of the Heritage Centre but of all the museums and centres taking part,” said Mary Sinclair Powell, Herefordshire Council’s Senior Heritage Assistant.

The usual Activity Days for younger visitors will be taking place during the Easter Holidays.  Further details will be available next month.

Opening hours for the centre are 10.30am to 4pm Tuesday to Sunday.  Closed on Mondays during March.  From April 1 the centre will open Monday to Saturday 10am to 5pm, Sunday 10.30am to 4pm.
