Local families, children and community groups will be able to view the brand new multi-purpose building for themselves during the open day, which will be held between 10am – 3pm.
Staff will also be on hand to discuss how the facility will benefit the public.
The centre, on Coningsby Road, is already open and offers a range of services under one roof including parent and children’s groups, crèche, health services and child minder support group.
The Coningsby Children’s Centre will also work in partnership with Job Centre Plus, education (local schools) and local health visitors.
A full day-care nursery will also open in the spring registered for 42 children.
The cost for the project has come from the Government’s 10-year strategy development, Sure Start and Children’s Centre initiative. The ongoing service costs will be met by Children’s Centre revenue monies allocated to the Council.
“The Coningsby Children’s Centre will bring many community benefits to Leominster and the surrounding area,” said Andy Gosling, centre manager.
“Providing a wide range of services not only from within the Children’s Centre but also in the wider community makes sense both in terms of the business case as well as providing more efficient public services.
“The open day is aimed at raising awareness of the centre and making sure that the public are aware of the services on offer.
“So I would say to anyone living in Leominster or the surrounding area to come along on the day and talk to our friendly staff who will only be too willing to help,” he added.
Shelia Scales, Director of Sure Start Extended Schools and Families Group, will officially open the building on May 26 during a civic ceremony.
