Landlords fair

21 February 2006

Herefordshire Council will stage a ‘Landlords’ Fair’ for property owners who are considering letting homes.

The event, at the Courtyard Theatre, Edgar Street, Hereford, will be held on Wednesday, March 1, from 4pm – 8pm.

Staff from enabling and housing needs, trading standards, housing benefit, private sector housing, the rent service, National Landlords Association, police, Marches Housing Association and local lettings agents will be on hand.

They will provide information on what assistance is available for renovating empty properties, advice and assistance for landlords with houses of multiple occupancy and tenancy services provided by local letting agents and the Council.

Richard Gabb, Head of Strategic Housing, said: “The fair is a great opportunity for private landlords to access a range of advice and services relevant to them.

“It also provides the Council with an opportunity to meet and talk to private landlords and find out what issues are affecting their sector in Herefordshire and, explore how the Council can work in partnership with landlords to help ease housing pressures in the county.

“The Council is also keen to increase the number of properties it rents from private landlords under its Private Sector Lease Scheme - this scheme provides landlords with a fully guaranteed rent for the period of the lease and assists the Council with its homelessness duties.”
