Have your say on planning

16 February 2006

Residents of Herefordshire are being invited to have a say on how they should be involved in planning issues.

Herefordshire Council has drawn up a ‘Statement of Community Involvement,’ (SCI) which sets out how it will engage the community when it consults on planning applications and prepares development plans (plans which show future use of land).

The document, drawn up as part of a new planning system, sets out how the Council’s Planning Services will carry out future consultation and how the views of local people will form a key role in guiding future development of the county.

Now the public are being urged to have one final say on the draft SCI before a final copy is produced for submission to the Secretary of State.

Once complete the SCI will act as a reference guide which spells out planning services and procedures for consultation on planning matters.

Copies of the draft and response forms are available from the planning offices, public libraries and Info Points across the County as well as on the Council’s website www.herefordshire.gov.uk/ldf/

The consultation period runs until March 17. For more details contact the forward planning team on (01432) 383357.
