Widemarsh Street open for business

30 January 2006

Shoppers are being advised that it is business as usual in Widemarsh Street.

Widemarsh Street and High Street, from JD’s public house to the High Town, will be pedestrianised once a repaving scheme in High Street is completed in the spring.

Both streets are currently closed to most traffic 24 hours a day seven days a week during this work.

Special arrangements have been made for access only by taxis and delivery vehicles.

Under pedestrianisation Widemarsh Street and High Street, south of the ring road i.e. from JD’s to HSBC bank, will close seven days a week between 10.30am – 4.30pm.

But Widemarsh Street north of the City, from Garrick House multi-storey car park to Pizza Hut, will remain unchanged and open to ALL traffic.
