The concession comes after consultation with local councillors, town traders, the Town Council and Parish Councils towards the end of last year as part of Herefordshire Council’s review of its parking strategy.
During the review, representations were received from interested parties to remove the charges at the Wilton Road car park to help support the local economy.
“We gauged the level of support to make this car park free all year round in exchange for ending free afternoon parking in Council car parks previously provided during the week prior to Christmas,” said Cllr Brian Wilcox, Cabinet Member (Highways and Transportation).
“We’ve now reviewed the evidence from the consultation and we’ve decided to introduce free parking at Wilton Road car park with immediate effect.
"I recognise the support for this change from local people and hope that this will provide effective support for Ross-on-Wye’s local economy within the Council's overall policies for public car parking,” he added.
