Open day at new £170,000 Children's Centre

28 November 2005

Work on a new £170,000 Children’s Centre in Hereford is complete and to help tailor services to community needs, staff are staging an open day for families, parents and residents.

The Springfield Children’s Centre, at Hunderton School, Belmont Avenue, is housed in a fully refurbished former school building.

The centre offers a range of family support services under one roof including parent and toddler groups, childcare providers, family support, Job Centre Plus and health services.

Contractors Bayliss Bros completed work on site over the autumn and the centre has been open since September.

Herefordshire Council and partner agencies are staging the open day on Thursday (December 1) for people to come along and have their say over what additional services they would like to see run from the centre.

Cllr Don Rule, Cabinet Member (Children Services), said: “As well as offering core services we also want the Springfield Children’s Centre to offer additional services which meet the local community needs.

“That is why we are staging an open day. We want the public to come along and tell us what’s important to them.”

As part of the open day there will be a children’s entertainer as well as a range of fun activities.
