Half-term holidays at Ross

20 October 2005

Bored youngsters can enjoy an action-packed programme of activities at Ross Heritage Centre over the half-term school holidays.

Staff from Hereford museum will be on hand for “Sporing Drawing,” on Friday October 28, between 10.30am – 3pm, when visitors will be encouraged to draw fungi.

The event is part of the National Big Draw, which is aimed at encouraging more drawing across the country.

Herefordshire Council’s “Museum on the Move” will also be on hand with its exhibition “Hedgerows,” at Market House, on October 28, from 11am – 4pm.

The exhibition illustrates the importance of hedgerows to the British landscape and as an important tool for agriculture.

A two-day workshop on how to make your own Christmas cards will also be held on Saturday October 29 and the following day during opening hours.

A collection of traditional bonnets belonging to Ross Quakers will go on display for a month at the Heritage Centre from November 1.

The centre is also stocked with Christmas gifts, cards and books. Cards for Good Causes will return for the third year from November 8.

Ross Heritage Centre, in Ross-on-Wye, is open Monday to Saturday, between 10am – 5pm, and Sundays from 10.30am – 4pm. From November 1 the centre will open between Tuesday and Sunday, 10.30am – 4pm and closed on Mondays.

The centre is also closed daily for lunch between 1pm – 1.30pm.
