Around 130 people attended and presentations were given on legal issues by Marie Rosenthal, Herefordshire Council’s County Secretary and Solicitor, and the criteria for the selection of possible sites by Stuart Gent, the Council’s Head of Property Services.
There were many questions and issues raised by members of the public.
Cllr Charles Mayson, Cabinet Member (Regeneration and Strategy), said:
“The council is being honest and open in the process towards selecting a new site for the Hereford Livestock Market.
“I have deliberately put a programme of public meetings in place so that everyone can hear the facts as they stand and as we know them, voice their opinion and ask questions.
“Records of these meetings will be made public and a list of ‘frequently asked questions’ (and their answers) will be on the Council website – www.herefordshire.gov.uk - and in the public domain as soon as possible,” he added.
The next meeting will be at Burghill (venue to be decided) on Thursday, December 8, at 7.30pm.
This meeting will focus on the pros and cons of the six proposed sites.
The event will be advertised three weeks in advance and people will be encouraged to submit questions to Cllr Mayson before the event. This will not preclude questions being asked on the night.
