Business questionnaires aimed at gauging the impact of the scheme on traders have been sent to trading addresses within the city centre area directly affected by the scheme.
Meanwhile an open meeting, organised jointly by Hereford City Partnership Retail Group and Herefordshire Council, will be held at The Green Dragon, Hereford, on October 24, at 6pm.
The meeting will be chaired by Cllr Chris Chappell, the Chairman of Herefordshire Council’s Community Services Scrutiny Committee and is aimed at local retailers and the public.
The retail questionnaire and open meeting are the latest stages in the in-depth review that the council is carrying out into the effects of the pedestrianisation experiment.
So far around 3,000 copies of a public questionnaire have been sent to public buildings in Herefordshire.
A copy of the questionnaire will also be included in the November issue of Herefordshire Matters, which is distributed to around 80,000 homes in the county.
As part of the consultation process hundreds of face-to-face interviews have also been conducted.
“The future traffic management arrangements in Widemarsh Street are very important to the future success of the city centre and it is therefore essential that all opinions are heard whether they are good or bad, positive or negative,” said Cllr Brian Wilcox, Cabinet Member (Highways and Transportation).
