Scrutiny Comes To Ledbury

20 September 2005

Ledbury residents can hear proposals to relocate the town’s Tourist Information Centre as part of a major seven-figure lottery refurbishment scheme.

Herefordshire Council is holding a public meeting in the town to gauge people’s views over long-term proposals to relocate the TIC, currently based in Homend, into Masters House, St Katherine’s.

The Council’s Community Services Scrutiny Committee will bring its next meeting to St Kathrine’s Hall, Ledbury, on Wednesday, October 5, at 6pm.

Other items on the agenda include an update on Ledbury’s annual poetry festival, which is held during the first ten days of July.

Cabinet members will also give an update on the Council’s performance and outline their targets for the future.

Questions will be taken from the floor but detailed questions should be submitted at least two working days before the meeting. All questions should be e-mailed to cgoodall@herefordshire.gov.uk

Under a separate scheme Herefordshire Council is in the process of relocating the town’s library from Bye Street into Masters House where the Info Shop is already based - bringing together more services under one roof.

Cllr Chris Chappell, Chairman of Community Services Scrutiny Committee, said: “This is an ideal opportunity for the people of Ledbury to have their say on not only the town’s TIC but also the poetry festival.

“By taking the Community Services Scrutiny Committee away from the Council’s HQ in Hereford to Ledbury we are giving people from the town every opportunity to voice their opinions.

“We welcome as much public participation as possible.”
