Herefordshire 16 Year Olds Celebrate Results 2005

30 August 2005

Schools in Herefordshire are celebrating another year of success as GCSE and vocational exam results came in this week.

Schools report a higher number of passes at grades A* and A than in previous years.

57% of Herefordshire high school students have gained 5+ passes at grades A*-C, a similar percentage to last year.

Wigmore High School has the highest percentage of 5+ passes at grades A*-C (86.2%).

Weobley High School has the greatest improvement in 5+ A*-C results since 2004 and has the highest percentage of students gaining 5+ passes at grades A*-G (99%).

Cllr Don Rule, Cabinet Member (Children’s Services), said: “With results in for all 14 high schools, Herefordshire students have achieved fantastic results this year.

“Scores this year maintain the progress made by students in the County throughout the lifetime of Herefordshire as a unitary authority since 1998.

“This success is a reflection of the hard work and dedication of teachers, students and parents alongside the support of the Council.”
