Starting on August 23, and running every Tuesday until October 11, young people are invited to learn to rap and use the decks at the sessions being held at Tudorville Youth Centre from 5pm until 8pm.
‘Lofty’ is a wordsmith and rapper, who writes lyrics to raps and songs but also has the gift of working with young people.
Lofty said: “I’ve worked with loads of young people in Herefordshire. Learning to rap gives them a chance to try something new and gives them a flavour of what it’s like to be a rapper or a DJ.
“The main thing is that the young people I work with gain confidence, sometimes enough to stand in front of their mates and perform with a microphone.”
Barry Stevens, Herefordshire Council’s Community Youth Worker, said: “It’s a great chance for young people to try out DJ-ing and rapping.
“I have seen shy young people develop incredible confidence expressing their feelings and views through rap.”
If you know of any young people who might like to start developing their DJ skills then get them along to the Tudorville Youth Centre, Tuesday from 5pm.
‘Lofty’ and the rest of the band have previously worked with groups of up to thirty young people in Ross and always look forward to working in the area.
‘Dubmerge’ will be doing four weeks of sessions so don’t miss them. If you would like any further information, then contact Barry Stevens on 01989 563611.
