The scheme, which gives youngsters attending a church school out of choice free transport, is currently under review after the equality of the discretionary scheme was questioned.
The Council’s Cabinet agreed the review earlier this year and will meet to consider the findings at Brockington, on Thursday, June 23.
Letters were sent out in the first week of the summer term and the closing date for parents to get their feedback to the Council was originally set for Friday, May 27, but some parents want more time to discuss the important issue.
“We want to be inclusive and give all parents who want to have a say the opportunity to share their views with us,” said Cllr Don Rule, Cabinet Member (Children’s Services).
“As a result we’ve agreed the extra week for parents to get their views to us.”
Parents wanting to send in a letter should write to School Transport Consultation, Children’s Services Directorate, PO Box 185, HR4 9ZR or they can e-mail the Council at schooltransportconsultation@herefordshire.gov.uk.
Cllr Don Rule, along with senior Council officers, have been invited to attend a meeting organised by parents which takes place in Hereford’s Town Hall on Tuesday, May 24.
“We’re please to be going along to this meeting as it will give us the opportunity to listen to our policy and the current review,” added Cllr Rule.
