Whitchurch Ballots Reissued

Voters in the Parish of Whitchurch are being advised that they will receive new ballot papers for their Parish Council election after a printing error was discovered.

The name of a candidate standing in the Whitchurch Parish Council election was omitted off the ballot paper - but the mistake was only spotted after the ballot papers had gone out in the post.

As a result, new ballot papers for the Parish Council have been drawn up and will be issued as soon as possible.

The new ballot papers will be on different coloured paper and they will include a covering letter explaining why electors have received a second ballot paper for the Parish Council election.

"This is very unfortunate and we hope it won't cause too much inconvenience for voters," said Neil Pringle, Returning Officer.

"Although we spotted the missing name when printers first drew up the ballot paper, they failed to amend it as we requested.

"During the hustle and bustle of issuing the ballot papers last week no-one noticed the error until it was too late.

"All we can do is apologise to the 806 voters in the Parish of Whitchurch who will now get a second ballot paper very soon.

"We're asking that they continue to return all sets of ballot papers delivered to them in the normal way," added Neil.

During last week a team of around 200 staff issued around 135,000 ballot papers.
