Residents of Wellington can let their “fingers do the walking” around a scale model of their Parish at the weekend and have their say on future development and planning.
Planning for Real, on April 5 and 6, has been made possible with help from Wellington Primary School Pupils who have built a cardboard, 3-D scale model of the Parish.
The model will be displayed at the School and people will be able to view and make comments on Saturday, from 10am to 4pm, and Sunday from 11am to 1pm.
All residents are invited to come along and admire the scale model of the Parish – the result of 6 weeks of painstaking work from 26 of the school’s budding builders.
The model allows for people to place a marker, where they feel improvements or changes to the Parish are needed. Areas for consideration include health, housing, traffic and transport; work, training and the Local Economy.
The Planning for Real exercise has been organised by the Wellington Village Plan Steering Committee with the help of Lisa Bedford, the Community Planning Worker for the Herefordshire Partnership.
John Roberts, Chair of the Steering Committee, said: “This is something of which all the children should be very proud.
“I hope as many residents as possible will come along this weekend both to admire the children’s work and to use it to make known their views about the future of their Parish.”
Feedback from the event will be considered by the Village Steering Committee and a report will go before the County Council Officers for approval as Supplementary Planning and an Action Plan to gain funds for priority projects.
Residents who received promotional flyers through the post/front door should bring them along to the open weekend for a chance to win a prize.
Also at the weekend, more than 20 village clubs and societies will be putting up displays to show the varied activities on offer in the Parish.
