Hundreds of shoppers each week are now discovering that Hereford's retail market has a lot to offer - including a roof over their heads and shelter from the elements.
Since the market moved indoors a few weeks ago, many shoppers have commented on the friendly atmosphere created among the stalls in the building adjacent to the previous location used for the Hereford Retail Market.
Initial scepticism by traders has turned into praise for the plans, which means they can now trade in all weathers without the risk of getting soaked or sunburnt.
To celebrate the official opening, Terry Meakin, the National President of the Market Traders Federation, was invited to unveil a plaque.
"I was here 12 months ago and the difference is amazing," he said to a gathered group of Herefordshire Council officers and traders.
"Markets have a key role to play in cities like Hereford and it's good to know the city market has a warm and dry environment which will attract shoppers," he added.
"Every town needs a market - it gives it its identity and is also a breeding ground for new businesses."
He congratulated Herefordshire Council on its foresight to move the market indoors and wished all the traders the best for the future.
