Herefordshire's historic postal ballot gets underway on Monday next week, April 14, when the first of the voting papers go out in the post.
A total of 135,000 ballot papers will be mailed out during a three-day period and a team of around 200 has been formed mainly from Council staff to ensure the papers go out on time.
Some people will receive one ballot paper (their Herefordshire Council ballot paper), others will receive two - this depends if there is a Parish Council election taking place at the same time.
In previous elections people would have just received their polling card through the post and collected their ballot paper at the polling station.
"As most people now realise, this year's election is different," said Neil Pringle, Herefordshire Council's Chief Executive and Returning Officer for the election.
"The ballot papers will be going in the post during the early part of next week so people need to look out for theirs dropping through their letterboxes soon after.
"It's a very simple process and will only take a few minutes," he added, and suggested that people complete their ballot paper as soon as it arrives rather than popping it behind the clock on the mantelpiece where it might get forgotten.
"We all live busy lives and we all forget things so it's best to do it when it arrives so time doesn't slip by and you end up forgetting about it and miss your chance to vote," added Neil.
On Monday next week, April 14, Neil will visit Leominster's Bridge Street Leisure Centre where he will speak to the staff who will be gearing up to mail out the 135,000 ballot papers.
They will spend three days working flat out to ensure all the ballot papers are mailed out as quickly as possible.
"This is an enormous task by any stretch of the imagination and I'm grateful for the staff who have chosen to take on this role," added Neil.
