It's not only the way you vote which will be a first for Herefordshire at the forthcoming local elections.
For the first time, people with mobile phones will be able to get the final result (each political group and the number of seats it has won) within minutes of it being announced.
Herefordshire Council is offering the text service to anyone with a mobile telephone - all they have to do is visit herefordshirevote.org.uk and register their number on the website.
Alternatively, anyone registering their e-mail address on the website will have the result sent direct to their computer just moments after the count is complete.
The Council send out the final number of seats won by each of the parties following the count.
"There's a lot of interest in the elections this year, particularly as it’s being carried out by a postal ballot for the first time," said Neil Pringle, Herefordshire Council Chief Executive and Returning Officer for the election (which means he's ultimately responsible for its smooth running).
"We're being watched nationally to see what percentage of people vote compared to previous years. However, we must not lose sight of what the election is all about - choosing locally elected people to make decisions which affect the lives of people who live and work in and visit Herefordshire.
"For this reason there will be many who will want to know the result as soon as it’s known.
"However, there are likely to be some people who want to know the result quickly but can't get to the count (which is to be held at Hereford Leisure Centre) for a number of reasons.
"They may be out of the county on business, away on their holidays or simply too busy to get along.
"For the first time we're offering to send the result to anyone who wants it, wherever they are in the world, literally within minutes of the final ballot paper being counted.
“It couldn’t be easier – just register your mobile telephone number on the website and we’ll do the rest,” added Neil.
