Top marks for Asset Management Planning

Herefordshire Council has recently obtained top marks for its annual, Corporate Asset Management Plan.

The Plan, written under guidelines issued by the Office of The Deputy Prime Minister, summarises the activities to manage Herefordshire Council’s extensive property estate.

In an independent assessment by the Government Office for the West Midlands in Birmingham, the council’s plan submission was rated as ‘Good’, the highest category possible. The underlying score achieved was a very creditable 42 out of 43.

The score of ‘Good’ contributes towards the annual Comprehensive Performance Assessment of the council as a whole.

This ‘Good’ rating also means that in the future the council will no longer be obliged to submit its Asset Management Plans for assessment.

The assessment took place during August and ran through to October.

“We are delighted with the outcome of this year’s submission. The score of ‘Good’ is a just reward for the hard work by officers and members involved in property management from across the council,” said Colin Birks, Herefordshire Council’s Corporate Property Officer.

“We are looking forward to continuing to develop and improve our Asset Management Plan as an important tool to assist with the management of the council’s land and building assets,” he added.
