Sure Start is pleased with the response it received during a recent consultation about plans to develop a Family and Children’s Centre in Leominster.
Consultations were carried out with families with young children in the Leominster area.
Paula Daniels, The programme’s Monitoring and Evaluation Officer, said: “We managed to speak with 87 families who either live in Leominster or just outside.
“We asked about the types of services people wanted as well as what they thought of the potential site for a new centre near the Leisure Centre and Minster School and the general opinion was positive.”
Sure Start, servicing Leominster and Kington, held a public meeting on Thursday, 20th November, at The Talbot Hotel in Leominster, in which there were no adverse comments expressed about the proposed Family and Children’s Centre.
Family and Children’s Centre development is about ensuring that families have access to a seamless service that provides integrated care and education for young children, this will include health services, family support and access to supported childminding facilities.
Cllr Don Rule, Cabinet Member (Education), said: “Sure Start has come a long way in its, almost, three years of existence.
“Its contact with young families throughout the Leominster and Kington area has been wide and the number who have benefited from the dedicated work of it professional and helpers just grows and grows.
“This new addition to its services will be put to very positive use.”
The plans have recently been on display at the Info-in-Herefordshire building in Corn Square.
A proposed timetable has been established for the project, subject to the necessary approvals:
