Herefordshire Council, together with 16 other councils across the Midlands, is turning to TV screens this festive season in a bid to encourage more people to recycle their household rubbish.
The cross-council consortium, supported by Lafarge Aggregates, has pooled resources to help pay for a TV advertisement.
The 30-second show depicts a typical family festive scene and shows how easy it is for the whole household to get into the spirit of recycling this Christmas.
Cllr Phil Edwards, Cabinet Member (Environment), said: "Herefordshire Council works hard to place recycling and waste minimisation at the very heart of household thinking.
“Through our ongoing programme of initiatives we work to reduce waste going to landfill, cut waste disposal costs and help the environment at the same time.
“This advertisement helps to reinforce all this hard work and provides a focus for families across Herefordshire to see how easy recycling really can be."
The advert will hit screens across the region on 22 December and run for two weeks.
It is hoped that festive viewers will take the message to heart and resolve to 'do their bit' in 2004.
The campaign will continue into the New Year with county-wide posters and banners featuring images from the advert.
