New parking charges for Herefordshire will be introduced in the New Year following yesterday’s Cabinet decision to approve the final package of changes.
Details of the new charges will be advertised in the press before they are introduced during January.
The original package of charges was agreed by Cabinet on October 23, but was subject to further consultation.
The consultation has confirmed support for the proposals in Bromyard and Ledbury and has raised no new considerations in Hereford, Ross, Kington or the parishes.
In Leominster, the Town Council had commissioned a consultants report which suggested an alternative to the original proposal for charges in Etnam Street Car Park.
The Town Council supported the alternative proposal and the Cabinet Member accepted the change requested.
Changes to the original package affecting Leominster are:
· Charges to be introduced in Dishley Street Car Park at 20p per hour (0800 to 1800, Monday to Saturday). Season tickets will be available.
· Charges in Central Car Park, Leominster increased to 30p for one hour and 60p for two hours (time limit of two hours to remain).
· All other Leominster car parks remain free.
Cllr Mike Wilson, Cabinet Member (Highways and Transportation), said:
“I’m pleased that following further consultation a final package of charges for the New Year has now been agreed.
“The future policy for car parking in the county will be reviewed by the Environment Scrutiny Committee next year.”
