Elizabeth Semper O’Keefe is the new head at Hereford’s Record office but is by no means a new face.
She has been promoted from Senior Archivist to Principal Archives Officer and takes over from Sue Hubbard, who recently retired from Herefordshire Council, after more than 30 years of service
Elizabeth has worked in Herefordshire’s Archive Services for just over three years and has proved her skills as an Archivist whilst working with Sue, as well as bringing in new ideas and approaches.
Before joining Herefordshire Council, Elizabeth worked in a variety of archive offices in Dorset, Guisborough and Teesside as well as gaining a Masters Degree in Archives and Record Management.
All of these skills and experience will be used to meet the challenges ahead.
Elizabeth, now Principal Archives Officer, said: “I am looking forward to my new role although there are some challenges – not least that we are running out of space at the current building.”
Natalia Silver, Cultural Services Manager, whose responsibilities include Archives, added: “We’re delighted by the appointment and can build on the good work of the previous manager.”
