The Annual Canvass takes place from September through to November. Every year a form is sent out to every household in Herefordshire in early September asking for information on who lives in your home. Every household must, by law, complete and return the form to the Electoral Registration Office. A reminder is sent out in October and a final reminder sent out in November. The revised Register of Electors is then published on 1st December.
If the form is not returned you will not be able to exercise your right to vote in future elections and you may find it difficult to obtain credit.
During the Annual Canvass period only you may be able to use the Freephone or the Internet Registration Services.
The Freephone Services is available 24 hours, 7 days a week from the beginning of the Annual Canvass in early September to the end of November. Your phone must have a star button.
This service is only available if you are NOT making any changes to the existing details listed except including or excluding the electors from the Edited Register.

You must have both parts of your security codes ready, this is an automated system, you will hear several options, choose the options that are relevant to you.
For your phone call to be accepted you must hear the confirmation at the end which then asks you to hang up. If you finish the call without hearing this message, your call may not be accepted.

You MUST NOT use a search engine, i.e. google or wanadoo. You must type the address in the address field at the top of the screen and press 'GO'.
You must have both parts of your security codes ready, read the instructions carefully on each page and choose the options that are relevant to you.
For your internet registration to be accepted you must reach the end and receive a confirmation. If you don't receive a confirmation your registration may not have been accepted.

During this period the Electoral Register is updated monthly. If you have moved house outside of the Annual Canvass period you may apply to be registered at your new address. Please note that you are NOT automatically registered even if you are paying Council Tax. Contact the Electoral Registration Office for a claim form.
