Discounts are available for:
Regulations were introduced from 1st April 2004 with regard to second homes and empty properties that have been vacant for over 6 months. Central Government has given local authorities in England the discretion to reduce the second home discount to a minimum of 10% of the full charge and completely remove the discount in relation to empty properties. Herefordshire Council has decided to allow 10% discount with regard to second homes and levy the full charge in the case of empty properties.
Applications must be made in writing to Tax and Rates Section, PO Box 224, Hereford, HR1 2XW or email us at counciltax@herefordshire.gov.uk
Periodically the Council Tax office reviews discounts. If you receive a discount review form you must complete the form and return it to the Council Tax office.
If you are no longer entitled to the discount please indicate how your circumstances have changed and from what date.
If the form is not completed and returned the entitlement to the discount will be cancelled.
If you lose your review form, please contact us to request a replacement.
