Important notice
Herefordshire Council Research Team are currently developing a new website, drawing together information currently presented on the Herefordshire Council and Herefordshire Partnership sites. The new site should go "live" in January 2010. You may need to update any bookmarks or links you have to either of the current sites.
Research on health issues in the county is typically conducted by Herefordshire Primary Care Trust (PCT), but this subject is increasingly becoming of interest beyond the PCT.
The Research Team include key health statistics as part of the State of Herefordshire report, within the
Health and Older People chapter.
The Herefordshire PCT publishes an annual Director of Public Health Report, which looks at health issues in Herefordshire. The latest report (Public Health Report 2008) was published in March 2009 and can be accessed via the link below.

There are a few issues for which data is not available regularly; for example, lifestyle data such as the proportion of the population eating five portions of fruit and vegetables a day. Some data for Herefordshire is available from the
West Midlands Regional Lifestyle Survey which was conducted in 2005 and the Teenage Lifestyle Survey from 2006.
Current work within the context of health and well-being in Herefordshire is the Joint Strategic Needs Assessment (JSNA), a statutory assessment of the current and future health and well-being needs of the population in Herefordshire. This will lead to commissioning services to achieve better health and wellbeing and reduce inequalities. This work is being carried out jointly by the PCT and Herefordshire Council. Analyses of the future needs and services required for particular groups of Herefordshire's population have been carried out (see resource box). These analyses all fed into reviews of the provision of services for these groups.
