The Hedgerows Exhibition inspired its audience through an interactive hedgerow, where visitors were able to see what life in the hedgerow is like from “inside”. This was a chance to really understand the makings of a hedgerow, how nature works within a specific habitat, and the impact that pulling down hedgerows has on its surroundings.
The Museum on the Move scheme provided a variety of groups with the chance to use the service free of charge, such as:
This project also targeted areas in the extremities of the county, therefore reaching a wider group of people, and encouraging them to take extra interest in an often over-looked aspect of their district.
Workshops related to this exhibition took place in local Heritage Centres or environmental locations, and helped demonstrate the impact of modern lifestyles upon the environment, whilst encouraging local people to engage with countryside maintenance.
The Hedgerows Exhibition toured the Parishes along the rivers between:
11th April – 2nd May 2005
4th October – 18th November 2005
A report was published in summary at the end of the tour. It shared the experiences and conclusions that were gathered throughout the tour, and was distributed to Heritage Services sites across the county.
