Youth Opportunities Fund and Capital Fund

Both these grants, funded by the DfES, have been developed to allow youth people between 13-19 years old to apply for funding to develop projects that increase the number of 'places to go and things to do'.  The schemes are currently ending in March 2008.

The Youth Opportunities Fund can be used for activities and things to do with funding available from £50-£4,500.

The Youth Capital Fund can be used for 'things' e.g. Equipment and buildings, with funding available from £50 - £10,000.

A project must help the young person or other young people in Herefordshire aged 13 to 19 and should fit into 1 or more of the 5 outcomes:-

  • Staying Safe (e.g. Anti-bullying project, youth shelter, etc)
  • Enjoying and achieving (e.g. Canoeing trip, digital camera, etc)
  • Making a positive contribution (e.g. Organising a community event, recycling bin, etc)
  • Being healthy (e.g. Healthy eating project, sports equipment etc)
  • Achieving economic wellbeing (e.g. Training Course, IT equipment etc)
