Citizenship Ceremonies

Citizenship ceremonies came into effect on 15th December 2003 as part of the Nationality, Immigration and Asylum Act and enabled applicants for British Nationality to make a citizenship oath and pledge. Successful applicants for citizenship (aged over 18), after approval by the Home Office, must attend a citizenship ceremony in order to obtain their certificate of naturalisation.

The ceremony is the final step to becoming a British citizen.

Successful applicants that have completed the Home Office formalities and the test of Knowledge of Life in the UK and would like the ceremony to take place in Hereford, should contact Lynne Griffiths at Herefordshire Register Office, Town Hall, St. Owen Street, Hereford, HR1 2PJ, or telephone 01432 260565 or email: registrars@herefordshire.gov.uk
