Criminal Damage and Graffiti

Criminal damage and graffiti are both classed as anti social behaviour. They can make an area look uncared for and feel unsafe.

Criminal damage is when a person intentionally destroys or damages another person's property. It includes graffiti, arson and other damage to property, including vehicles.

Herefordshire Community Safety and Drugs Partnership takes these crimes very seriously and is working hard to catch those committing criminal damage. New initiatives have been introduced, including measures to identify taggers and to remove graffiti as quickly as possible.

All these initiatives are supported by existing CCTV systems, which can monitor and record those people responsible for committing offences.

Convicted offenders will have a criminal record and this will have consequences for employment and limit opportunities for travel abroad. Offenders may also be fined or given ASBOs. The maximum sentence for criminal damage is life.

If you have any information about criminal damage, graffiti, or any other crime call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or contact your Local Police Officer.
